Bangladesh Tri-series 2019 [Preview]

Bangladesh Tri-series 2019 is scheduled to be played from 13th to 24th September in Bangladesh. Zimbabwe and Afghanistan will other teams that will participate in this Tri-nation series.All three teams will play four games each in a bid to qualify for the finals of the competition.

Zimbabwe has gone through a lot of trouble after being suspended by International Cricket Council (ICC) due to political interference.

For Bangladesh, they would be looking to get off to a good start to their home season. The home side is currently playing Afghanistan in the one-off Test at Chittagong and will be looking to start the tri-nation competition on a positive note.

Bangladesh has done exceedingly well in limited-overs cricket this season. From winning tri-nation series in Ireland to performing well in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Bangladesh are no pushovers in the shorter formats.

In the batting department, the side will be relying on the likes of Tamim Iqbal, Mushfiqur Rahim and Shakib Al Hasan to produce the bulk of the runs. Wicket-keeper Mushfiqur Rahim has been standout performer with the bat in limited-overs cricket and would be looking to do well in this tri-nation series.

Mahmudullah, Soumya Sarkar and Sabbir Rahman have produced credible batting performances for Bangladesh in limited-overs cricket.

In the bowling department, the side will be depending on the likes of Mashrafe Mortaza, Rubel Hossain and Shakib Al Hasan to provide crucial breakthroughs. Mehidy Hasan Miraaz and Mohammad Saifuddin have been valuable additions to the bowling department in limited-overs cricket.

On the other hand, Zimbabwe will have to play exceedingly well in order to compete with strong teams like Afghanistan and Bangladesh. Captain Hamilton Masakadza will be looking to go out on a high and end his career on a good note.

In the batting department, the side will be depending on the likes of Hamilton Masakadza, Brendan Taylor and Craig Ervine to do the bulk of the scoring. Middle-order batsman Sean Williams has been a consistent performer with the bat since past 12 months.

In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Kyle Jarvis, Chris Mpofu and Tendai Chatara to pick up wickets with the new-ball.

Due to poor performance in the recently concluded ICC Cricket World Cup 2019, Afghanistan made wholesale changes to their setup. Gulbadin Naib was sacked from one-day captaincy as leg-spinner Rashid Khan was named captain for Afghanistan for all three formats.

Afghanistan will be looking to do well in Bangladesh Tri-series 2019. The side has explosive players like Mohammad Nabi, Najibullah Zadran and Hazratullah Zazai, who have produced match-winning performances in the 20-over format.

All-rounder Mohammad Nabi is a reputable name in the world of T20 cricket. He will be looking to do well for the side in this tri-nation series.

Najeeb Tarakai, wicket-keeper Shafiqullah Shafiq, Shahidullah Kamal and Fareed Malik are new faces included in the T20 squad for Bangladesh Tri-series 2019.

In the bowling department, the side will be relying heavily on the spin trio of Rashid Khan, Mohammad Nabi and Mujeeb Ur Rahman to pick up wickets in this tri-series.Medium pacer Karim Janat, Gulbadin Naib and Dawlat Zadran are three prominent pace options for the side in this T20I series.

The opening game of Bangladesh Tri-series 2019 will see host Bangladesh take on Zimbabwe at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on 13th September. Dhaka and Chittagong are selected venues for Bangladesh Tri-series 2019. The final of the competition will be played at Shere Bangla National Stadium in Dhaka on 24th September.
