ICC Cricket World Cup 2019: Three Players to Watch out for England

The craze for cricket has reached an all-time high as ICC Cricket World Cup is set to begin from 30th May in England.  The 12th Edition of Cricket World Cup will be played different across the United Kingdom.

Hosts England will be looking to create history and win their maiden World Cup in their home conditions. Last four years, England have been a dominant unit in limited-overs cricket and have managed to win one-day series in Australia, New Zealand and Sri Lanka.

This is certainly the biggest cricketing summer for England as they take part in ICC Cricket World Cup and then take on Australia in the Ashes series. This is the second time since 1975 both the mega events are coming in the same year.

Eoin Morgan’s side have performed exceedingly well in the last couple of years, they will be outright favorites to win this year’s World Cup.

Let’s look at the three players who can help England win their maiden World Cup crown this year.

Ben Stokes

The Talismanic all-rounder has been an instrumental figure for England in limited-overs cricket. Stokes has been a consistent performer with bat and ball in the last four years. He has the ability to change the complexion of the game in a space of few overs.

Ben Stokes is one player that has won matches for England with bat and ball. He has delivered superlative performance with the bat as well. However, he struggled to find form in the ongoing Indian Premier League while playing for Rajasthan Royals. All-rounder will be hoping to hit peak form in this year’s World Cup and help England win their maiden crown.

He has the ability to raise his game with bat and ball in crunch situations. In English conditions, he will definitely be a handful in conditions where there is lateral movement on offer from the pitches.

England will be hoping that Stokes can produce his best with bat and ball and help them win World Cup on home soil.

Joe Root

Since the 2015 Cricket World Cup, England has certainly followed the modern template to play limited-overs cricket. It is fact that four out of five highest totals have been scored by England in one-day internationals since last four years. Joe Root is certainly England’s premier batsman in limited-overs cricket.

Root certainly has the ability to adapt to different situations in the 50-over format. He can also anchor the innings for England in one-day internationals while the rest of the batting lineup can play with more freedom.

He was the star performer for England in the one-day series played against India last year. He smashed back-to-back hundreds to see England beat India in the three-match one-day series. With this result, England became the only team to beat India in a bilateral one-day series since 2016.

Root also an accomplished player against the spinners and will be crucial to England’s chances in this year’s World Cup.

Jos Buttler

Wicket-keeper batsman Jos Buttler is the most dangerous player in world cricket at the moment.  He has the ability to destroy bowling attacks in the later stages of the game. Buttler has produced scintillating performances for England in limited-overs cricket and will be keen to do more of the same in this Cricket World Cup.

In his short career, Buttler has played spectacular knocks for England that includes scoring a century off 46 balls against Pakistan in the UAE.  He has scored 3497 runs in 129 matches at an average of 42.13 with eight centuries to his name. Since Jan 2018, Buttler has been in splendid form and scored 992 runs at a mind-boggling strike of 125.09.

Jos Buttler has excellent numbers with the bat in England in limited-overs cricket. Wicket-keeper batsman has scored 1654 runs in 57 matches at an average of 53.35 with four centuries to his name.

He is one such player who can help England win their maiden World Cup crown this year.
