India is scheduled to tour West Indies to play three ODIs followed by five T20Is, starting from Trinidad on 22nd July.
With Lokesh Rahul ruled out of the ODI series, Shikhar Dhawan has been named interim captain for India. Rohit Sharma,
Virat Kohli, Hardik Pandya, Rishabh Pant, Jasprit Bumrah and Mohammad Shami have been rested for the three-match ODI series. Shubnam Gill, Ruturaj Gaekwad and Ishan Kishan are three prominent openers picked for the one-day series against West Indies.
Deepak Hooda, Prasidh Krishna, Arshdeep Singh and Mohammed Siraj have retained their place in the ODI squad for the three-match series against West Indies.
On the other hand, West Indies have announced their limited-overs squad for the three-match series against India. All-rounder Jason Holder makes a return to the one-day squad, while Jayden Seales have been included in the setup.
Despite losing the ODI series against Bangladesh, Cricket West Indies have picked the same group of players for the upcoming three-match series against India.
ODI skipper Nicholas Pooran will be hoping that the side can turn things around in this one-day series.
For India, the onus will be on the likes of Shikhar Dhawan, Ishan Kishan, Shubnam Gill, Suryakumar Yadav and Shreyas Iyer to deliver the bulk of the runs.
Since July 2021, Shikhar Dhawan has shown decent form for India in limited-overs format. In eight matches played, Dhawan has accumulated 233 runs at an average of 33.28 with two half-centuries to his name.
Besides Dhawan, Suryakumar has scored 226 runs in seven innings at an average of 37.66 with one fifty to his name.
In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Ravindra Jadeja and Yuzvendra Chahal to provide crucial breakthroughs.
Since July 2021, Leg-spinner Yuzvendra Chahal has shown excellent form for India in the 50-over format. In eight matches played, Chahal has claimed 14 wickets at an economy rate of 5.06.
On the other hand, West Indies will be keen to deliver their best cricket in this three-match ODI series.
In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Shamarh Brooks, Shai Hope, Kyle Mayers, Nicholas Pooran and Brandon King to deliver the bulk of the runs.
Since July 2021, Middle-order batsman, Shamarh Brooks, has shown decent form for West Indies in limited-overs cricket. In 15 ODIs played, Shamarh has accumulated 532 runs at an average of 38.00 with one century and three half-centuries.
Besides Brooks, opener Shai Hope has accumulated 524 runs in 17 innings at an average of 32.75 with two centuries and one half-century.
Since July 2021, Left-arm orthodox spinner, Akeal Hosein was the standout performer with the ball in hand. In 16 matches played for West Indies, Akeal has claimed 26 wickets at an average of 26.03 with one four-wicket haul to his name.
India will kick-star their tour with a three-match ODI series against West Indies. All three matches will be played at Queens Park Oval, Trinidad on 22nd, 24th and 27th July. After conclusion of the ODI series, Men in Blue will play five-match T20I series against West Indies.
The first game of the T20I series will be played at Queens Park Oval in Trinidad on 29th July. The second and third will be played at Warner Park, Basseterre in St Kitts on 1st and 2nd August respectively. The fourth and final T20I match will be played at Lauderhill in Florida on 6th and 7th August to conclude the tour.
