IPL 2018 Preview: Top Emerging players to watch out for this season
Indian Premier League Auction did throw a lot of surprises as a lot of promising players were signed by the franchises for this year’s competition. The notables included players from India U-19 side that won the World Cup in New Zealand. The likes of Prithvi Shaw, Shubham Gill, and Jofra Archer will be keen to make their mark in the eleventh edition of Indian Premier League. Here is the list of promising players to watch out for in IPL 2018:
Prithvi Shaw (Delhi Daredevils): The youngsters have gained prominence after delivering superlative performances at the domestic level. Some pundits have compared him to Sachin Tendulkar after scoring a lot of runs at a fairly young age. He has the ability to produce a big score and will certainly a player to watch out in this year’s competition. Shaw was bought for a big price of Rs 1.2 crore by Delhi Daredevils.
Jofra Archer (Rajasthan Royals): Pace Bowler Jofra Archer has been relatively unknown commodity till he made an instant impact with the ball for Hobart Hurricanes in Big Bash League this year. He picked up 16 wickets in 12 games played for the franchise. Rajasthan Royals picked him up for a big price of Rs 7.2 crore.
D’Arcy Short (Rajasthan Royals): The left-handed batsman was splendid in the recently concluded Big Bash League. He scored over 500 runs for Hobart Hurricanes and helped them to clinch their maiden crown. Short was signed by Rajasthan Royals and will be focused to provide rampant starts for the franchise in this IPL season.
Shubman Gill (Kolkata Knight Riders): He received a lot of praise and recognition after finishing the leading run-scorer for India in U-19 Cricket World Cup played in New Zealand. He scored over 350 runs in six matches and was instrumental in India winning the title. Kolkata Knight Riders signed Gill for a price of Rs 1.8 crore.
Sandeep Lamichhane (Delhi Daredevils): Leg-spinner Sandeep Lamichhane was impressive for his side during ICC World Cricket League Division Two. He was named the player of the competition after his impressive performances for Nepal. He is a rising star and does the have the ability to spin the ball a long way. The leg-spinner could turn out to be a potent weapon for Delhi in this year’s competition.
Lungi Ngidi (Chennai Super Kings): South Africa’s Lungi Ngidi has made an impressive start to his international career. He took six wickets against India in the second Test played at SuperSport Park, Centurion to help South Africa win the series. He has done tremendously well in the five-day format in a short span of time and has been termed as Morne Morkel replacement. Ngidi will certainly be a key player for Chennai Super Kings in this 11th edition of the league.
