New Zealand tour to England 2022 [Preview]
New Zealand is scheduled to tour England in the month of June to play three-match Test matches, starting from 2nd June at Lords. The visitors are scheduled to two warm-up matches before the start of the first Test at Lords. Uncapped batsman Cam Fletcher and all-rounder Michael Bracewell have been named in the New Zealand’s Test squad for the tour of England.
With likes of Chris Woakes, Ollie Robinson, Olly Stone, Sajid Mahmood and Jofra Archer ruled out of the English summer due to injuries, uncapped pacer Matty Potts has earned his maiden call-up to England’s Test squad for the series against New Zealand.
The veteran pace duo of James Anderson and Stuart Broad have made their comeback to the Test squad for the three-match Test series. Rookie pacer Craig Overton, Ben Foakes, Ollie Pope and Zak Crawley have retained their place in the Test squad.
Uncapped batting duo of Harry Brook and Alex Lees have earned their maiden call-up to the England’s Test squad for New Zealand series.
After Joe Root relinquished Test captaincy, all-rounder Ben Stokes has been appointed new captain of England.
In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Zak Crawley, Joe Root, Ben Stokes, Jonny Bairstow and Ollie Pope to deliver the bulk of the runs.
The responsibility will on the experienced trio of Joe Root, Ben Stokes and Jonny Bairstow to deliver big runs in this three-match Test series.
Zak Crawley showed decent form in the three-match series against West Indies played in the Caribbean. The 24-year old will be looking to do well in this home series.Ben Foakes will be the designated wicket-keeper for England for this three-match Test series.
Alex Lees, Ollie Pope and Harry Brook are the rookie players, who will be keen to put in decent performances for England in this home series.
In the bowling department, the onus will be on the likes of Stuart Broad, James Anderson and Craig Overton to make crucial breakthroughs. Matty Potts is the other pace bowling option for England for this three-match series.
Left-arm spinner Jack Leach is the only premier spinner included in England squad for the three-match series against New Zealand.
On the other hand, New Zealand have announced their Test squad for the tour of England.Kane Williamson is making a return to the Test squad after missing the series against Bangladesh and South Africa. Daryl Mitchell and Colin de Grandhomme are two quality all-rounders named in the Test squad.
In the batting department, the onus will be on Kane Williamson, Devon Conway, Henry Nicholls and Tom Latham to deliver the bulk of the runs. Will Young, Colin de Grandhomme and Tom Blundell are other prominent players in the batting lineup.
In the bowling department, the side will be relying on the pace quartet of Tim Southee, Kyle Jamieson, Matt Henry and Trent Boult to make crucial breakthroughs. Left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel have been named in the Test squad for the tour of England.
The first Test of the three-match series will be played at Lords Cricket Stadium in London from 2nd June till 6th June. The second game will be played at Trent Bridge Cricket Ground in Nottingham from 10th June till 14th June. The third and final game of the series will be played at Headingley Cricket Grounds in Leeds from 23rd till 27th June.
