New Zealand tour to Netherlands 2022 [Preview]
New Zealand is scheduled to tour Netherlands in the month of August to play two-match T20I series, starting from 4th August at Sports Park, Westviiet, The Hague.
Host Netherlands have to yet announce their T20I squad for the home series against New Zealand. With Pieter Seelaar retiring from the T20 format, wicket-keeper Scott Edwards has been named T20I captain of Netherlands national cricket team. It will be interesting to see which players get selected as number of them are currently playing in the ongoing English County Championship.
On the other hand, New Zealand will be keen to continue their winning ways in the T20 format. Left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner is the interim captain for New Zealand for this two-match T20I series. Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham, Mark Chapman, Finn Allen, and Michael Bracewell have been included in the T20I squad for Netherlands series.
Pacer Ben Sears and keeper Dane Cleaver are promising players picked for Netherlands series.
Adam Milne, Blair Tickner, Daryl Mitchell, James Neesham and Lockie Ferguson are pace options for New Zealand for this two-match T20i series. Mitchell Santner and Ish Sodhi are prominent spinners named in the T20I squad.
In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Martin Guptill, Finn Allen, Glenn Phillips and Daryl Mitchell to deliver the bulk of the runs.
Since July 2021, opener Martin Guptill has shown consistency at the top of the innings. With 460 runs in 14 outings, Guptill is leading run-scorer for New Zealand in the T20 format.
Besides Guptill, Glenn Phillips has shown decent form with the bat and accumulated 310 runs In 14 outings at an average of 34.44.
Since July 2021, Leg-spinner Ish Sodhi has been leading wicket-taker for New Zealand in the T20 format. In 13 matches played, Sodhi has claimed 20 wickets at an economy rate of 7.77.
In the batting department, the onus will be on the likes of Max O’Dowd, Scott Edwards, Tom Cooper and Colin Ackermann deliver the bulk of the runs.
Since July 2021, opener Max O’Dowd has topped the batting charts for Netherlands in the T20 format. In 8 T20Is, O’Dowd has accumulated 301 runs at an average of 37.62 with three half-centuries.
Besides O’Dowd, Bas De Leede has done a decent job with the bat in the shortest format of the game. In eight matches played for Netherlands, de Leede has scored 177 runs at an average of 35.40 with one half-century to his name.
Since July 2021, medium-pacer Fred Klaassen has topped the bowling charts for Netherlands. In eight T20Is played for Netherlands, Fred Klaassen has taken 12 wickets at an excellent economy rate of 5.96. During this period, Logan Van Beek has shown impressive form for Netherlands and claimed 11 wickets in six outings at an economy rate of 6.04.
The two-match T20I series will be played at SportsPark, Westviiet, The Hague on n 4th and 5th August respectively. Currently, New Zealand are going to play two-match T20I series and one-off ODI against Scotland. The matches will be played at Grange Cricket Club in Edinburgh.
It will be interesting to how see The Netherlands fare against a strong New Zealand team led by Mitchell Santner.
