South Africa vs England 2020: Three England players to watch out for in T20I series

England is scheduled to take on South Africa in a three-match T20I series that is slated to begin from 27th November in Cape Town. The second game will be played at Paarl on 29th November and third game will be played at Cape Town on 1st December.

All-rounder Ben Stokes and pacer Jofra Archer will be available for the three-match T20I series. The duo will be rested for the one-day series as players like Lewis Gregory, Sam Curran, Liam Livingstone, Olly Stone and Reece Topley have been named in the limited-overs squad.

Jonny Bairstow, Jofra Archer and Dawid Malan have shown excellent form for England in the T20 format and will be key players for the three-match T20I series. The visitors are coming in the series after managing to secure a draw against Pakistan in the three-match series played at home earlier this summer.

Here, we look at three players that can deliver the goods with the bat and ball in the upcoming series against South Africa.

Jonny Bairstow

Swashbuckling opener has shown excellent form with the bat in the T20 format. He has the ability to produce blistering performances for the side at the top of the innings. Bairstow will be looking to make amends for his batting stats in the T20 format. In 43 T20I matches, Jonny Bairstow has accumulated 843 runs at an average of 26.34 with five half-centuries to his name.

In the ongoing Indian Premier League, Jonny Bairstow continued his rich vein of form with the bat for Sunrisers Hyderabad. In 11 matches, Jonny Bairstow accumulated 345 runs at an average of 31.36 with three half-centuries to his name.

The team management will be hoping to see that Bairstow can deliver his absolute best in this three-match T20I series.

Jason Roy

Jason Roy is one of most explosive opening batsman in white-ball cricket at the moment. The 30-year old has represented England in 35 T20Is in his career where he has managed to score 860 runs at an impressive average of 24.57 along with a brilliant strike-rate of 147.51.

Jason Roy will take heart from the fact that he has done well with the bat in South Africa. In the T20I series played earlier this year, Roy showed excellent form and accumulated 117 runs at a strike rate of 164.78. He will be looking to continue his good form for England in the three-match T20I series.

Jofra Archer

There is no doubt that Jofra Archer is the premier bowler for England in white-ball cricket. He made his international debut in the ICC Cricket World Cup 2019 played in England and Wales. Since then, he has represented England in all three formats.

Woakes has represented his national team in four matches in the T20-over format where he has claimed five wickets an average of 25.20 and with the strike-rate of 18.0.

Barbados-born pacer has shown excellent form with the ball in this year’s Indian Premier League. He finished the competition as the leading wicket-taker for Rajasthan Royals. Archer claimed 20 wickets in 14 matches at an average of 18.25 with an economy rate of 6.56.

Jofra Archer will be hoping to make an impact with the ball for England in the forthcoming three-match T20I series against South Africa.
