South Africa vs England 2020:Three South Africa players to watch out for in ODI series

South Africa are ready to face England in the three-match ODI series which is starting from February 4^th in Cape Town. The other two games will be played at Durban and Johannesburg on 7^th and 9^th February.

The home side will take heart from the fact that they have beaten England in a one-day series played in South Africa in 2016.

On the other hand, this will be England’s first limited-overs assignment since winning the 2019 ICC Cricket World Cup on home soil last year. World Champions will be looking to continue their dominance in white-ball cricket after winning maiden World Cup in front of their home crowds.

For South Africa, Sisanda Magala, Bjorn Fortuin, Janneman Malan, Kyle Verreynne, Temba Bavuma and Lutho Sipamla have earned their maiden call-ups for the one-day series against England.

The series is an important one for the home side who are struggling in white-ball cricket for quite some time now and therefore, the team management will be hoping to see the players turn it around in the contest against one of the very-best in the format.

The wicketkeeper-batsman has a prolific record in the 50-over format while playing for the Proteas as he has scored 4,907 runs in 115 innings at an outstanding average of 45.01 and with an impressive strike-rate of 95.20, which included 14 centuries and 24 fifties

De Kock is coming in the series in really good form after finishing the recent Test series as the top-scorer for South Africa with 380 runs in eight innings at an average of 47.50 which included four half-centuries as well. Therefore, the team management will be hoping to see the 27-year-old continue his good form in the upcoming ODI series as well.

Rassie van der Dussen

Rassie van der Dussen is an emerging name in international cricket despite having an impressive beginning to his career at the highest level. The 30-year-old is now becoming a permanent feature in the South African team across all formats due to his consistent performances. Van der Dussen is coming in the series after showing impressive batting skills in the recently concluded Test series against the same opposition where he ended up as the second-highest run-getter for South Africa with 274 runs at an average of 34.25 which included three half-centuries.

Andile Phehlukwayo

Andile Phehlukwayo is now cementing his spot in the Proteas team across different formats as the number one all-rounder in the country. The 23-year-old has an impressive record in the 50-over format where he has represented South Africa in 52 matches in his short career. In those matches, Phehlukwayo has managed to score 549 runs at an average of 32.39 which also included a solitary half-century whereas he also has 65 wickets to his name at an impressive strike-rate of 31.9 along with a respectable economy-rate of 5.59.
