Three England Bowlers to watch out for New Zealand Test series

Host England will be looking to start their home season on a decent note when they take on New Zealand in the two-match series, which will begin from 2nd June at Lords Cricket Ground. With New Zealand showing excellent form in red-ball cricket last season, the Test series against England is expected to be closely-contested one.

Jack Leach

England’s s premier spinner Jack Leach will be looking to produce his best in this two-match Test series.

With Dominic Bess dropped from the Test side, the responsibility will be on the shoulders of Jack Leach to provide and stability with the old ball.

Since making his Test debut in 2018, Left-arm orthodox spinner have done an excellent job for England and picked up crucial wickets in different conditions. In 16 Test matches played for England, Jack Leach has claimed 62 wickets at an average of 29.98 with two five-wicket hauls to his name.

This year, Jack Leach has shown decent form for England and performed well in winter tours of Sri Lanka and India. In six matches played, Jack Leach claimed 28 wickets at an average of 31.14 with one five-wicket hauls to his name.

Stuart Broad

Pacer will be looking to find his mojo with the ball in hand in the upcoming two-match Test series against New Zealand.

Besides James Anderson, the 34-year old has been England’s premier bowler in the pace department for the five-day format for a number of years.

Since 2018, Stuart Broad has topped the bowling charts for England in Test cricket. In 33 Test matches, Stuart Broad has claimed 118 wickets at an average of 23.05 with three five-wicket hauls and one ten-wicket haul.

In Test matches played in home conditions during this period, Broad has claimed 82 wickets at an average of 20.68 with two five-wicket hauls to his name.

After struggling to make an impact on the sluggish pitches in the subcontinent, Broad will be looking to do well in this two- match Test series and provide early breakthroughs with the new-ball.

James Anderson

There is no doubt that James Anderson is England’s premier pacer in the five-day format. After his splendid performances for India in tours of Sri Lanka and India, James Anderson will be hoping to continue his excellent form with the new-ball against New Zealand.

James Anderson is the most experienced bowler for England for this home series with 160 Test matches to his name. He is currently has 614 wickets at an average of 26.46 with 30 five-fors and 3 ten-fors his name.

With Ben Stokes and Jofra Archer ruled out of the series, James Anderson will be looking to lead the pace department and pick crucial wickets for England with the new-ball against New Zealand. The pitches in the early part of the season will certainly suit his style of bowling.
