Three Indian players to watch out for in Australia vs India T20I series

Host Australia are ready to face in the three-match ODI series which is starting from 4th December at Manuka Oval in Canberra. The other two games will be played at Sydney Cricket Ground on 6th and 8th December respectively.

The home side will take heart from the fact that they have beaten Indian in the recently concluded one-day series. On the other hand, this will be India’s first limited-overs assignment since covid-19 pandemic brought cricketing events to a halt in March earlier this year..

The series is an important one for the home side who will be looking to assert their dominance in the T20 format. Uncapped all-rounder Cameron Green, Sean Abbott have been named in the T20I squad for the three-match series. David Warner sustained injury in the second game of the series and will miss the three-match T20I series against India. D’Arcy Short is named as a replacement for Warner in Australia’s T20I squad.

Here, we look at three Australian players to watch out for in the T20I series against India who can prove to be a difference maker in the three-match contest.

Virat Kohli

With Rohit Sharma ruled out of the T20I series, there is no doubt that Virat Kohli is the premier batsman for India for this three-match T20I series. Indian Captain has been a bankable performer in the shortest format of the game. The 32-year old has a prolific record in the 20-over format while playing for India as he has scored 2794 runs in 76 innings at an outstanding average of 50.80 with an impressive strike-rate of 138.24 which included 24 half-centuries to his name.

Kohli is coming in the series in really good form after finishing the recent one-day series with 173 runs in three matches at an average of 57.67 with two half-centuries to his name. The team management is hoping that Kohli can deliver notable scores in this three-match T20I series.

Shikhar Dhawan

After scoring well over 500 runs for Delhi Capitals in this year’s Indian Premier League, Left-hander will be looking to deliver the goods with the bat in this three-match T20I series.

The 34-year old will be looking to get India off to good starts in the upcoming three-match T20I series. Dhawan will certainly hold the key for the visitors at the top of the innings. After accumulating 140 runs in three innings in the three-match one-day series, Dhawan will be keen to continue his decent form with the bat against Australia.

Hardik Pandya

There is no doubt that Hardik Pandya is premier all-rounder for India in white-ball cricket. The all-rounder hasn’t bowled on this tour due to injury concern but will be looking to make an impact with the bat in the T20 format.

The 27-year-old will be looking to make amends for his poor record with the bat as he managed to score only 310 runs in 40 matches with a strike rate of 147.61. With a match-winning innings in the final game of the one-day series, Pandya will be entrusted with the task of providing quick runs in the back end of the innings.
