Top five batsman to watch-out for in 2022 Pakistan Super League
The Pakistan Super League (PSL) is all set to begin from the 27th of January, 2022 where top local and international players will be seen in action. Players after completing their mandatory quarantine, have started landing in Karachi and have begun training.
As we gear up for the 7th season of the PSL, there are some intriguing talented batters to watch out for who can set the tournament on fire with their fierce and smart batting.
Haider Ali
Haider is one of the most talked-about and highly-rated young batters in Pakistan. He’s known for his timing and versatile skills. He can play the role of dazzling hitter to lead the strike rate quest or can play conventionally to sustain innings when needed. Thus, his skill set allows him to be valuable to his team by any means.
Haider shot to fame through his fierce performances in the PSL when he debuted for Peshawar Zalmi. Now he has hit 358 runs for the side in 15 games that have helped them clutch victories.
He was part of the World T20 squad and the team that whitewashed Bangladesh in a three-match T20 series. His recent double century in the final of Quaid-e-Azam Trophy really stands out in his career.
Abdullah Shafique
The only batter in the history of Pakistan cricket who scored centuries on FC and T20 debuts, and fifties in Test Debuts. Abdullah Shafique has been a consistent performer in domestic cricket as of late.
His composed ability and brilliant techniques indicate that he’s another great prospect in the pipeline. He’s been picked by Lahore Qalandars where he will play his inaugural PSL with the franchise.With this hype of his calibre, fans are excited to see that he will be able to make his PSL debut memorable, too?
Azam Khan
Loaded with power, hard-hitting, timing, and immense talent, Azam Khan is one to watch out for. Knocking the ball around the park was the favorite hobby of Azam on his day. Azam debuted with Quetta Gladiators in 2019 and has been a part of the franchise until being traded to Islamabad United for the 7th season of PSL. Yet he’s been provided another opportunity to prove his worth as one of the brilliant power-hitters among the players.

Tim David
Tim David slipped himself under the radar by replacing Qalandars’ favourite David Wiese in the second leg of PSL6 in Abu Dhabi. Tim scored 180 runs with an average of 45 and strike rate of 166.67, along with playing some blazing innings of 23* off 15 balls and 64* off 36 balls that pushed Qalandars to victories.
During his PSL debut, Tim played a stand-out hand for Lahore Qalandars. Being part of Big Bash League, Surrey, The Hundred, Indian Premier League, and now CPL, Tim David has had a meteoric rise over the past two years.
Now the flamboyant all-rounder will be seen with title defenders, Multan Sultans, who picked him in the platinum category by using the wild card option.
Sohaib Maqsood
Won Player of the final and player of the tournament for Multan Sultans in PSL6, Sohaib Maqsood had an incredible PSL run last year. He scored 428 runs with an average of 47.55 and a strike rate of 156.77. His remarkable performance saw 5 fifties including his unbeaten 65 in the final that helped Multan Sultans to take hold of their maiden PSL trophy.
One of the cleanest hitters of the ball, Maqsood, is all set to begin the season with the same zeal, and cricket enthusiasts are eager to watch Maqsood play the nostalgic winning shots this year.
