Top Three Players to watch out for Royal Challengers Bangalore

With Virat Kohli’s relinquishing captaincy duties, the franchise decided to rope in senior player for the upcoming edition of Indian Premier League. The team management made notable acquisitions during IPL Auction even held in February. Faf du Plessis has been named captain of Royal Challengers Bangalore after being signed during IPL Auction event.

With AB De Villiers retiring from T20 cricket and Kohli’s inconsistent form in the shortest format, the onus will be on Faf du Plessis to lead from the front with the bat. Let’s take a look at three players that can help Royal Challengers Bangalore win 2022 Indian Premier League.

Virat Kohli

Former Indian captain will be hoping to find form with the bat in this year’s Indian Premier League. Last season, Virat Kohli showed decent form for RCB and finished the competition with 405 runs in 15 innings at a strike rate of 119.46. Last year, Virat Kohli notched up three half-centuries for Royal Challengers Bangalore.

For past five years, Virat Kohli has been the premier performer with the bat for Royal Challengers Bangalore. In recent times, Kohli has looked a little timid in his batting approach especially against the spinners in the white-ball formats. The team management will be hoping that Virat Kohli can rediscover his mojo with the bat and help RCB break their trophy drought this season.

Faf du Plessis

Former South African batsman will be focused to deliver the goods with the bat for his new franchise, Royal Challengers Bangalore, in this year’s competition. With AB De Villiers retiring from IPL, the team management decided to rope in Faf du Plessis for the coming edition of Indian Premier League.

Previously, Du Plessis performed exceedingly well for Chennai Super Kings. Last year, Faf du Plessis has accumulated 633 runs in 16 matches at an average of 45.21 with a strike rate of 138.20 with six half-centuries to his name. He will be looking to continue his rich vein of form for his new franchise RCB.

The team management feels that Faf du Plessis has excellent leadership skills that can help the franchise win their maiden trophy this season.

Harshal Patel

Last year, medium-pacer showed incredible consistency with the ball for Royal Challengers Bangalore. In the 2021 Indian Premier League played in India and UAE, Harshal Patel also claimed 32 wickets in 15 matches at an economy rate of 8.14. He also picked up a five-wicket haul for RCB last year.

Due to his impressive performances last season, Harshal Patel earned his maiden call-up to India’s T20I squad. Earlier this year, Harshal Patel delivered decent performances for India in the T20I series played against West Indies.

Last season, Harshal Patel was the designated enforcer for Royal Challengers Bangalore during the middle-overs of the innings. He will be looking to do well in this year’s competition. He has the ability to score quick runs with the bat in the back end of the innings.

Given his ability to bowl well with the old ball, the team management will be hoping that Harshal Patel can continue his excellent form in this year’s Indian Premier League.
