West Indies Tour of New Zealand 2017-18 [Preview]
West Indies will play tour New Zealand in the month of November to play two test match series followed three ODIs and three T20s to concluded the tour. West Indies has been playing cricket coming into the contest as they won a series in Zimbabwe.
West Indies has been mixed bag this year as but have considerable strides in the five-day format by winning against Pakistan in Barbados and then upstaging England at Headingley. Jason Holder has been good as the leader of the side. The all-rounder has been consistent performer for the side for last couple of years.
There is glimmer of hope for West Indies as the young side has shown grit and attitude to eke out credible victorious over top ranked sides in Test cricket. The side has good players in Shai Hope, Roston Chase and Kraigg Brathwaite that have done well in the current season in the format for West Indies.
Shai Hope has raised his game and performed superbly in England that included his batting heroics at Headingley to see West Indies win a test match in the country after 17 years.
Roston Chase also has been good but of late has suffered a lean run with the bat. Kraigg Brathwaite has been good opener for West Indies. Chase has also with his part-time off-spin alongside the premier spinner Devendra Bishoo.
Kane Williamson will be keen to start the home season with a win over West Indies. New Zealand endured a successful home season last year. Williamson will also be determined to produce big runs as captaincy has affected his batting. Tom Latham has been standout player for the side as left-handed opener has been consistent across all three formats. Tim Southee is set to miss the first game citing personal reasons.
Lockie Ferguson has included in the setup as pace bowler has been doing well for the A-side. Uncapped Tom Blundell is going to make his debut and will replace injured BJ Watling in the New Zealand squad for the first game of the series. Ross Taylor will need to find form in this series after suffering from an indifferent season.
New Zealand do a hold consider advantage at home as West Indies have not win a test in the country. It is going to be good contest as hosts New Zealand take on West Indies in the two-match test series that will start from 1st December at Basin Reserve, Wellington.
