West Indies tour to Bangladesh 2018-19 [Preview]

West Indies will be keen to their turn their fortunes around when they take on Bangladesh in a two-match Test series. Jason Holder has been ruled out of the series due to an injury. Kraigg Brathwaite will lead West Indies for the Test series.

On the other hand, Bangladesh made a strong comeback to level the two-match series against Zimbabwe. Shakib Al Hasan has been declared fit and will lead Bangladesh for the home series against West Indies.
The opening game of the series will be played at Chittagong on 22nd November. The second and final game will be played at Mirpur on 30th November.

Shai Hope, Roston Chase, and Kieran Powell are experienced players in the batting department for West Indies. The trio will certainly be looking to do well in this two-match Test series. Powell and Chase showed signs of courage and determination during India series.

Shannon Gabriel and Kemar Roach have been excellent as a new-ball pair for West Indies. Devendra Bishoo and Jomel Warrican are two spinners picked for the series. Kraigg Brathwaite has been West Indies leading run scorer since Jan 2016 with 1688 runs in 26 matches at an average of 40.19 with four centuries to his name. Raymon Reifer has been included in the Test squad for the two-match series.

Kemo Paul and Sherman Lewis are other bowling options for West Indies for the two-match Test series.
On the other hand, Bangladesh will be looking to get off to good start after not doing that well against Zimbabwe. Mushfiqur Rahim has been a consistent player in the batting department and topped the batting charts since Jan 2016 with 1319 runs in 17 matches at an average of 45.48 with three centuries to his name.

Mominul Haque delivered with the bat in the previous series against Zimbabwe. He scored 182 runs in 2 games at an average of 45.50 against Zimbabwe. Shakib will make his return to the side after missing out on international cricket for close to two months. Mahmudullah also delivered with the bat in the Zimbabwe series. The all-rounder notched up a superb century in Dhaka to help Bangladesh level the series.

Slow left-arm orthodox spinner Taijul Islam was leading wicket-taker for Bangladesh in the two-match series against Zimbabwe. He picked up 18 wickets at an average of 20.55. Taijul picked three five-fors in the two-match Test series against Zimbabwe.

Off-spinner Mehidy Hasan Miraaz also performed well in Zimbabwe series and picked up 11 wickets at an average of 17.45. Mustafizur Rahman and Abu Jayed are other bowling options for Bangladesh.

The culmination of two-match Test series will be followed by three-match one-day series that will begin from 9th December. The first two games will be played at Sher-e-Bangla Stadium, Dhaka. The third and final game will be played at Sylhet on 14th December.

The two sides will also play a three-match T20I series that will begin from 17th December. The games will be played at Dhaka and Sylhet. Certainly, it will be an opportunity for the West Indies to end winless streak against inconsistent Bangladesh in the T20I series.
